Eye makeup remover

The beauty (pun intended!) of buying products when the brand is offering complimentary gifts is being able to try products that you wouldn’t normally buy from those particular brands. For me, this is eye makeup remover. Over recent months, I’ve made the most of the offers from Lancome, Estee Lauder and Elizabeth Arden – all offering gifts with purchases over $75, and all including eye make-up remover.

Lancome – “Express cleansing water”
This is labelled as an “express cleansing water” for face, eyes and lips. I was quite impressed with this ‘cleanser’, it left my skin feeling clean and toned, and removed my eye makeup with ease. However, although it is advertised as a cleanser, I think it’s more suitable as a makeup remover and as such, I recommend using this as an all over makeup remover prior to cleansing.

Estee Lauder – “Gentle eye makeup remover”
This was a very gentle eye makeup remover and felt similar to the Lancome express cleansing water. What I particularly liked about Estee Lauder was that there wasn’t any oily residue whatsoever. I found this is convenient when having to remove my “day” makeup and being able to immediately reapply my eye makeup, ready for the night. On the downside, I found that it took longer to get all the makeup removed compared to Elizabeth Arden.

Elizabeth Arden – “All Gone” Eye and lip makeup remover
The Elizabeth Arden make-up remover is a two-step process (firstly smoothing on with a cotton pad then rinsing with water) compared to the other two, which are both a one step process (simply putting onto a cotton pad and wiping makeup off). That said, it is a fantastic eye make-up remover. It has a slightly oilier texture which means it does not leave the skin feeling dry and it is super gentle on the eye area. Compared to the other two makeup removers, this removed the most makeup using the least amount of product.

Overall, all three makeup removers were gentle and effective. In my opinion, Elizabeth Arden removed makeup with the most ease compared to the other two. The Elizabeth Arden eye and lip makeup remover is definitely next on my shopping list!
